Etchings Of The First Quarter Of 2020 by Sabarna Roy is a collection of Letters, Ideas, Conversations, and Poems. The book is divided into four parts: Part A: A Letter To A Step Daughter, Part B: A Letter To Suranjana, Part C: Nocturnal Conversation Between A Step-Father And Step-Daughter Over Desserts And Coffee and WINTER POEMS 2020.
Part A is about a father, who is writing a letter to her step-daughter, where he talks about the books he has and an exhibition which he will be attending in Kolkata. He asks her to meet there for desserts and coffee. Part B is about him writing a letter to Suranjana, where he congratulates Suranjana for a successful session, Dark Side of the Mind, which happened at the Literary Meet. Here he explains his point of view about the characters and the book Lolita and Anna Karenina. He briefly explains about both the books.
Part C is the continuation of Part A, where both father and daughter meet. In this part, the author explains Schizophrenia and Duality briefly. The father and daughter spent time together and create memories while drinking coffee. The last part is Winter Poems 2020, which is filled with poems. The poems are engaging and penned beautifully.
All over, I liked all the parts and the stories. The way they were organized, and presented, was well maintained. The language is lucid and easy to understand. It is a short read, and I recommend this book to everyone. 😊❤️
